ICLEI South Asia participated in CBD COP 16 in Cali, Colombia, from 21 October to 1 November 2024. Dr. Pradip Sarmokadam, Member Secretary of the Goa State Biodiversity Board, was a key speaker from South Asia. Dr. Sarmokadam spoke at the Nature Positive Pavilion, addressing the challenges subnational governments face in aligning with the Global Biodiversity Framework and nature-positive targets. He also shared insights on the Goa State Biodiversity Board’s initiatives, including the development of People’s Biodiversity Registers.
The ICLEI South Asia team – Dr. Monalisa Sen, Ms. Rithika Fernandes, and Dr. Alex CJ—also participated in the 8th Summit for Subnational Governments and the BMUV-funded Interact Bio project meeting to meet in person and discuss the project activities in each country.
